

The research team at Dartford and Gravesham NHS Trust has grown significantly since the employment of our first dedicated research nurse with the support of the Clinical Research Network Kent, Surrey and Sussex, the Kent & Medway Cancer Research Network and our Trust Board. We now employ employ 14 staff members (including some in support roles) and manages approximately 50 studies providing quality research projects. Current studies open across specialties are: Lymphoma, Gynaecology, Colorectal, Breast, Haematology, upper Gastroenterology, Urology, Cardiology, Diabetes, Nephrology, Stroke, Paediatrics, Neurology, Mental Health, Musculoskeletal, Hepatology, Microbiology, Respiratory and Surgical.
For clinical trials, the NIHR publishes outcomes against benchmarks including the benchmark of 70 days or less from the time a provider of NHS services receives a valid research application to the time when that provider recruits the first patient for that study.
